Is this abortion?

Any thoughts on this story? Bishops reverse earlier opposition to state law requiring PLan B for rape victoms

Is it okay to prevent a pregnancy in a case of rape? This assumes that the woman has not already conceived.

It still seems wrong. Killing is wrong. The child can not help what happened.

I agree 100% Tim. My thought is before conception takes place. I need to see exactly what Plan B actually is and what it does. However, with your background I’m more inclined to trust your judgement on the matter.

I’m going to read this also.

Interesting huh? Consensual sex produces a person that must not be murdered, yet rape produces something disposable? All our children are adopted. Our second youngest daughter is now 5 years old; she was conceived during a rape. Could you tell by looking at her? No. Could you tell by touching her? No. Could you tell by talking to her? No. She is a wonderful, healthy, vibrant, gorgeous, funny, intelligent child who loves life, loves Jesus and loves others. What a shame to know that according to some, she should have been torn to bits while inside her mother’s womb.

    Hi Makarios,

Your comment is touching. I for one if faced with the situation would never consider the origins of a child. A child is a child.

I just now realized that after a woman is attacked, to want to prevent a child from being born is to view that child as a further attack; when the child is innocent.

I was thinking in terms of conception from the standpoint of consenting married couples and seeing the prevention of pregnancy by a rapist as preventing the rapist from hurting the woman any further.

Thanks for helping me see that.
